We’re living in a time where the definition of manhood is murky at best and broken at worst. Culture gives us conflicting messages—be strong, but not too strong. Be gentle, but not too gentle. But what does God say? Today, we’re starting with the very first step toward reclaiming true masculinity: answering the call.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
1 Corinthians 16:13 (ESV): “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.”
This isn’t just a pep talk—it’s a battle cry. Paul didn’t write these words to coddle the church. He wrote them to stir hearts, especially the hearts of men, to wake up and engage. To be watchful means to stop drifting. To stand firm in the faith is to plant your life on something immovable. To act like men? That’s the challenge—to grow up, step up, and take responsibility.
Manhood isn’t about domination—it’s about dedication. It’s not about flexing muscles—it’s about flexing faith. The first step up is a step into responsibility: leading your home, owning your mistakes, protecting the weak, honoring God. God’s definition of manhood starts with courage, clarity, and conviction. Passive masculinity dies here.
Men, if you’re waiting for someone to tell you when it’s time to grow up—it’s now. You were made for more.
Question of the Day:
What area of your life is God asking you to stop being passive and start stepping up?
Let’s Pray:
Father, awaken our hearts to Your call. Help us reject passivity, embrace responsibility, and pursue manhood Your way. Make us strong in faith, courageous in leadership, and bold in love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
