Let’s stop pretending. Every man—yes, every single one—faces the battle for sexual purity. It might be porn. It might be wandering eyes. It might be lustful thoughts or emotional connections that go too far. But this fight is real, and it’s fierce. And the moment we stop fighting is the moment we start falling.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
“Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul.” — 1 Peter 2:11 (ESV)
Did you catch that? The passions of the flesh are waging war against your soul. This isn’t a game. This isn’t just “boys being boys.” It’s a spiritual war. And if we don’t treat it that way, we lose ground before we even start.
Now here’s the good news: you’re not alone.
You’re not the only one who’s struggled.
You’re not the only one who’s failed.
You’re not the only one who’s wanted to quit but couldn’t silence the inner war.
Brother, you’re in a battle that men have faced for generations. Even King David—mighty warrior, man after God’s own heart—fell in this exact fight. But God didn’t leave him in shame. And He won’t leave you either.
This fight matters because your integrity matters. Your marriage (present or future) matters. Your spiritual authority matters. Your legacy matters.
You don’t have to be perfect. But you do have to be honest.
The battle isn’t won by hiding. It’s won by bringing everything into the light.
And today, it starts with owning the truth: this is a fight worth showing up for. Every. Single. Day.
