I think about legacy a lot. Not just what I’m handing my Grandkids kids today—but what they’ll remember when I’m gone. What will echo through their lives because of how I lived mine? As fathers, we have a choice: leave behind regrets or leave behind a legacy that multiplies for generations.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
“I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.” — 2 Timothy 1:5 (ESV)
Paul is talking to Timothy here, pointing to a faith that was passed down. A spiritual inheritance. That didn’t happen by accident. It happened because someone chose to live out their faith in a way that was visible, real, and contagious.
Brother, your faith isn’t just about you. It’s about your children. Your grandchildren. Your great-grandchildren. What you say and what you do today becomes the framework for how your family views God tomorrow.
Legacy isn’t just preaching sermons—it’s living one. It’s how you handle pressure. It’s whether you pray in front of them. It’s how you treat their mother. It’s what you prioritize when nobody’s watching.
I’m not talking about leaving behind a name everyone knows. I’m talking about leaving behind spiritual DNA that fuels revival in your bloodline.
A legacy of faith means raising your children to trust God’s voice, stand firm in Scripture, and carry the gospel long after you’re gone.
That starts now. Not when they’re older. Not when life slows down. Legacy is built in the daily grit of fatherhood.
Question of the Day:
What kind of faith are you handing your children—and will it stand when you’re not there to hold their hand?
Mini Call to Action:
Write down the spiritual values you want your family to carry. Then start living them out in front of your children—boldly, consistently, and with joy.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to live in a way that leaves a trail of faith behind me. Let my kids remember more than my words—let them remember my example. And let the legacy I leave lead them straight to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Let’s Get to Work.
Your legacy isn’t built in one day—it’s built daily. Start laying the bricks. Your children’s children are counting on it.
