TOV 25-171 Holding Each Other to Holiness

TODAY’S FOCUS IS: Calling Your Brothers Higher, Not Just Helping Them Cope

Brotherhood isn’t just about being there when someone falls—it’s about challenging each other to rise. Too many men settle for mediocrity in the name of grace. But true brotherhood? It pushes each other toward holiness. It doesn’t lower the standard—it lifts the brother.

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” — Hebrews 10:24–25 (ESV)

That word “stir up” means to provoke, to push, to move someone out of passivity and into action. And it’s not optional. We are commanded to stir one another toward love and good works—toward holiness.

A real brother isn’t content watching you flirt with compromise. He doesn’t just pat you on the back and say, “I get it, man.” He says, “Let’s do something about it.”

When you love someone like a brother, you don’t let him stay stuck in secret sin, spiritual laziness, or fear. You call him up. Not because you’re better—but because you want him stronger.

But here’s the thing—you’ve got to give your brothers permission to hold you to holiness. You’ve got to invite it.

That means showing up. Staying in community. Submitting to encouragement and correction.

It’s easy to hide behind “no judgment” culture and just say, “God’s working on me.” But holiness takes intentional pursuit—and we’re supposed to pursue it together.

You were never meant to grow alone. You were meant to be sharpened, challenged, and held accountable by men who fear God and fight for righteousness.

Question of the Day:
Are you surrounding yourself with brothers who push you toward holiness—or just help you feel okay in compromise?

Mini Call to Action:
Ask one brother this week to check in on your walk with God. Invite honest feedback. Don’t just aim for comfort—aim for growth.

Prayer:
God, thank You for brothers who stir me toward holiness. Give me the courage to invite accountability and the love to hold others to the standard You’ve called us to. Make me more like You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let’s Get to Work.
Don’t just comfort your brothers—call them higher. Holiness isn’t legalism. It’s strength. And it’s time we pursued it—together.
