Mission Briefing 10: Jesus vs the Church

Are you up for the challenge?

Men don't want to be invited into a relationship, they want to be challenged with a difficult adventure. And that’s exactly what Jesus offered everyone he spoke with. Are you up for the challenge?

Picture this: You're standing at the crossroads of the expected and the extraordinary. Now, I've spent a good chunk of my life wading through the muck and the mire of the most unexpected jobs this world has to offer, learning the stories of folks who tackle the kind of work that makes most people's noses wrinkle. But here’s a thought - what if the greatest adventure lies not in the job you choose, but in the life you lead?

Let's dive into something a bit unconventional, something that’s been a point of contention for centuries - the difference between what Jesus preached and what’s become of the Church. It’s like comparing the gritty reality of hard, honest labor to the polished, sometimes disconnected halls of corporate power. Jesus, you see, wasn't about just inviting folks to a Sunday meet-up; he was throwing down the gauntlet, challenging people to embark on the most demanding adventure of all - transforming their lives from the inside out.

So, here’s the mission briefing, should you choose to accept it: It’s not about sitting in a pew, nodding along to familiar hymns. It’s about rolling up your sleeves, stepping out into the unknown, and getting your hands dirty in the service of something far greater than yourself. Jesus wasn’t handing out easy passes; he was recruiting for a journey that promised as much hardship as it did reward.

The question is, are you ready to step away from the comfort of the familiar, to challenge yourself to live a life that’s about more than just going through the motions? Because that, my friend, is where the real work begins. Are you up for the challenge?
