In the stirring tale of "He is Risen," the narrative captures the awe-inspiring event of Jesus's resurrection, which transforms despair into boundless joy and love. As the shadow of the crucifixion looms large, the disciples grapple with their sorrow, but their mourning is soon replaced by elation when they witness their Master alive again, three days post his death. This story, underpinning the core of Easter, speaks of redemption and hope, resonating with believers globally.
The young Daniel is present at Calvary, witnessing the painful crucifixion of Jesus, during which a Roman Centurion acknowledges Jesus’s divine lineage. As Jesus breathes his last, the earth itself rebels; storms unleash their fury and the ground quakes. Fleeing the chaotic scene, Daniel brings the grim news of Jesus’s death to the disciples, who are clandestinely hiding from the Roman authorities.
Simultaneously, Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus take tender care in preparing Jesus’s body and entombing it in a rock-hewn grave, sealing it with a massive stone. Concerned over the prophecy of Jesus’s resurrection, Caiaphas, the Pharisee high priest, urges Pontius Pilate to secure the tomb. Pilate concedes and dispatches guards to watch over the sealed tomb.
However, divine intervention shatters human plans as angels descend, the tomb bursts open with radiant light, signifying Jesus’s conquest over death. The first to encounter the risen Jesus is Mary Magdalene, who finds the tomb deserted. Jesus later reveals himself to his disciples, charging Simon Peter with the care of his flock and spends forty days preaching, urging his followers to spread his teachings far and wide.
With his earthly mission fulfilled, Jesus ascends to heaven, leaving behind a legacy of faith and a promise of return. Daniel, inspired and watchful, faithfully awaits his return, murmuring, "Come quickly, Lord Jesus. I'll always be watching for You."
