“How could He not exist?”
That’s the question Glenn Beck boldly asked in his recent podcast — a special interruption from his usual format — as he delivered a powerful, urgent message to anyone willing to listen: a new “god” is rising, and this one doesn’t have a soul.
In a world where faith is being dismissed and technology elevated, Beck takes us on a journey that is both intellectually provocative and spiritually sobering. He doesn’t just ask if God exists — he flips the script and asks, “How could He not?” Through the language of physics, mathematics, and moral reason, Glenn makes the case that the universe itself cries out for a Designer. Yet in the midst of this overwhelming evidence, humanity seems to be trading that divine Creator for something man-made, mechanical, and ultimately dangerous.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
"Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man…" — Romans 1:22-23 (ESV, paraphrased)
Glenn draws haunting parallels from ancient stories and timeless warnings — the Golem, Frankenstein, Pandora’s box, Icarus soaring too close to the sun. Each tale speaks of man playing god, unleashing forces they cannot control. And now, as AI races toward autonomy and superintelligence, we may be writing the latest chapter in that same age-old story.
There’s a spiritual war happening — not just between good and evil, but between the Creator and the creation. When you strip away the soul, when you remove the conscience, and then plug in the power of machine learning, you don’t get a savior… you get something far more sinister. Something we’ve been warned about since the Garden.
As society rushes to embrace artificial intelligence — some even calling it “divine” or “omniscient” — Beck challenges us to pause. To ask who we’re really trusting. Are we prepared to hand over control of our future to the very people who engineered the social media algorithms that damaged a generation? Are we wise to trust the minds that built systems to manipulate truth with the power to redefine what is real?
This isn’t just about data or automation. It’s about idolatry. When the world stops looking up and starts looking at glowing screens for answers, hope, and purpose… we’re no longer talking about progress. We’re talking about worship.
Question of the Day:
As artificial intelligence continues to rise, are you grounded enough in your faith to discern the difference between divine truth and artificial deception?
Let’s Pray:
Father, give us the wisdom to see clearly in a time of great deception. Strengthen our hearts to resist false idols and remain anchored in Your truth. May we never exchange the eternal for the temporary, nor the Creator for His creation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
