What God Says About Those Who Harm His Elect and Israel
TODAY'S FOCUS IS: The Fiery Wrath of a Loving God Against Injustice
"For the LORD has a day of vengeance, a year of recompense for the cause of Zion." āIsaiah 34:8
A loving God is not a passive God. His love is fierce, protective, and just. He sees every injustice done to His electāthose who bear His nameāand to Israel, the nation He calls His own. Let there be no misunderstanding: the God of the Bible does not take lightly the actions of those who dare to harm His chosen ones. His response is not merely a whisper of disapproval; it is a roar of righteous judgment.
A Divine Warning
The Bible is filled with warnings to those who plot evil against God's people. Zechariah 2:8 declares, "For he who touches you touches the apple of His eye." God sees every scheme, every act of violence, every lie, and every betrayal. He is not indifferent. To harm His elect or Israel is to strike at His very heart, and such actions invoke a reaction as inevitable as a tidal wave crashing against the shore.
Godās Fierce Judgment
"I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed." āGenesis 12:3
To those who raise their hand against Israel or persecute His elect, the consequences are severe. History bears witness to this truth. Pharaoh drowned in the Red Sea. The Assyrian army was decimated in a single night (Isaiah 37:36). God is not mocked, and His vengeance is swift.
The Book of Obadiah speaks directly to those who stand against His chosen: "The day of the LORD is near upon all the nations. As you have done, it shall be done to you; your deeds shall return on your own head." (Obadiah 1:15) Every act of hatred, oppression, or destruction aimed at Godās people becomes a boomerang that returns with devastating force.
What Does Judgment Look Like?
Let us not water down the truth. Godās judgment is intense and graphic, painted vividly in the Scriptures. Consider Isaiah 34:2-3: "The LORD is enraged against all the nations, and furious against all their host; He has devoted them to destruction, has given them over for slaughter. Their slain shall be cast out, and the stench of their corpses shall rise; the mountains shall flow with their blood."
These are not metaphors. This is the terrifying reality of a holy God responding to unholy acts. Those who harm His elect will face a day of reckoning that makes the earth tremble and the heavens shake (Joel 3:16).
The Example of Amalek
The Amalekites dared to attack Israel in their weakness, striking from behind as they fled Egypt. Godās response? "I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven." (Exodus 17:14) This is not a God who forgets. The enemies of His people will face total annihilation, their legacy reduced to ash and their names erased from history.
Godās Love for His People
Some may wonder: How can a loving God execute such wrath? The answer lies in His deep love for His elect and Israel. A father who loves his children fiercely will not stand idly by while they are attacked. Instead, he will rise with righteous anger to protect and avenge them. Deuteronomy 32:35 echoes this truth: "Vengeance is mine, and recompense, for the time when their foot shall slip; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and their doom comes swiftly."
This is not an abstract love. It is a love that defends, protects, and avenges. It is a love that cannot abide injustice.
A Call to Repentance
God is patient, but His patience has limits. He desires that none should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Even so, when repentance is rejected, judgment is inevitable. The enemies of Godās people are given time to turn from their wicked ways, but when that time runs out, the consequences are devastating.
Joel 3:2 speaks of God gathering the nations into the Valley of Jehoshaphat: "There I will enter into judgment against them concerning My inheritance, My people Israel, for they scattered My people among the nations and divided up My land." This is not a debate. It is a final verdict, and it is binding.
The Role of Israel in Godās Plan
Israel is not just a nation; it is a covenant. Through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, God established an unbreakable promise. Isaiah 49:16 reminds us, "Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me." Those who attack Israel are not just opposing a political entity; they are defying the very hand of God.
Hope for the Faithful
For Godās elect and Israel, these passages are not meant to invoke fear but to provide assurance. "No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment." (Isaiah 54:17) Godās protective hand is a shield for His people. Though the enemies of the elect may rise, they will fall. Though nations may conspire, their plans will come to nothing.
The Final Reckoning
Revelation 19 paints the ultimate picture of Godās wrath against the enemies of His elect and Israel: "From His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron. He will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty." (Revelation 19:15) The imagery is stark. The King of Kings does not negotiate with evil; He crushes it under His feet.
Challenge of the Week
Warriors, remember this: We are called to stand with Godās elect and Israel, to be voices of truth and shields of protection. Reflect on these questions: Are you aligning your life with Godās purposes? Are you standing firm in prayer for His people? Take three steps this week:
Study Godās promises to His elect and Israel.
Pray for their protection and blessing.
Speak boldly against injustice when you see it.
Letās Pray
Heavenly Father, we tremble at Your power and rejoice in Your love. Thank You for being a God who defends and protects. Give us courage to stand with Your elect and Israel. Let our lives reflect Your justice and mercy. Teach us to trust in Your timing and Your promises. In Jesusā name, Amen.
Letās Get To Work!

Ezekiel 38:17-21 KJV
17 Thus saith the Lord God; Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?
18 And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face.
19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;
20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord God: every man's sword shall be against his brother.
