Today, we’re tackling a battle every man faces—what we allow our minds and hearts to soak in. The world marinates us in negativity—lust, anger, fear, and pride—until we absorb its flavor. What we watch, what we listen to, and the people we surround ourselves with season us, sometimes with bitterness, sometimes with deceit. But God calls us to set our minds on things above, to detox from the world’s marinade and be saturated with His truth.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is: Colossians 3:2 – "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
Imagine a steak left too long in a bitter marinade. No matter how much you try to rinse it off, the taste remains. The same is true with the influences we allow into our lives. That grudge you’re holding? That resentment from an old wound? That addiction you justify as stress relief? It’s all soaking into your soul, shaping how you see yourself, others, and God.
The good news? There’s a way out. God’s Word is the ultimate cleansing agent. When we soak in Scripture, we realign our thoughts with His truth. We don’t just remove the bitterness; we replace it with the aroma of Christ. The key is intentionality. What are you consuming? What voices are influencing your decisions? Who is shaping your character?
