Ever felt like no matter what you do, you can’t shake that one temptation? That one struggle that keeps creeping back in like an unwelcome guest? The enemy doesn’t need an open door—he just needs a crack. And once he gets a foothold, he’ll do everything he can to turn it into a stronghold.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is James 4:7—"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."
That’s not a suggestion. That’s a promise. But notice the order—submission comes first. Before you can resist the devil, you must first submit to God. That means laying down pride, sin, and excuses. It means aligning yourself fully with God’s Word and His will.
Confession is a weapon. When you bring sin into the light, the enemy loses his leverage. Accountability keeps you from slipping back into old habits. Prayer is your battle cry—an unbroken connection to the power of God. And walking in the Spirit? That’s how you shut the door and lock it for good.
The devil doesn’t flee from half-hearted faith. He flees from warriors who stand firm. So today, make the decision to surrender fully to God, resist the enemy with everything you’ve got, and watch him retreat.
Let’s Pray: Father, I submit every part of my life to You. Expose any area where I’ve given the enemy access, and help me shut the door through Your power. Strengthen me to resist, to stand firm, and to walk in victory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
