As an elderly woman with many disabilities, I often feel more fear rather than pride. However, publicly witnessing the degrading of women from the Supreme Court Judge who would not identify, "what is a woman", & this political push for fairness of lesbians & gays, I feel our world is losing the values & dignity of women. I feel the 'need' for pride. We should be proud to be a woman & offended when a woman is degraded, shouldn't we?

Thank you for sharing your heartfelt thoughts Annie. The concept of pride can indeed be complex, and it’s worth reflecting on the two types of pride: Godly pride and ungodly pride.

Godly pride is rooted in gratitude and recognition of God’s design and purpose. It’s the kind of pride that says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14). This type of pride is not about elevating oneself but honoring the dignity and value God has given each person, including women, as His creation. It’s standing firm in the identity and purpose God has bestowed upon us.

Ungodly pride, on the other hand, is self-centered, divisive, and can lead to arrogance or a disregard for others. It often seeks to elevate oneself at the expense of humility and truth, leading to a sense of entitlement or superiority that distances us from God.

As women created in the image of God, there is certainly a place for Godly pride—standing for dignity, truth, and the value that God has given to womanhood. Being offended when women are degraded reflects a righteous indignation against injustice, and seeking to honor God’s design for women is a powerful way to respond. In all of this, it’s essential to pair pride with humility and love, ensuring our actions reflect God’s heart.

Your voice matters, and your courage in speaking out is an example of standing for truth in love. Keep shining His light!
