Hello, Tribe of Valor! Today, we're peeling back the layers on what it really means to be a warrior—not just on the battlefield, but in everyday life, as a citizen of God’s kingdom. It’s about much more than courage and strength. It's about embodying the virtues of the kingdom we belong to, reflecting God’s character in everything we think, say, and do. Let's dive into what shapes a true warrior under God's command.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is: Philippians 3:20-21 - "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."
This passage from Philippians reminds us that as warriors of faith, our true allegiance is to a kingdom not of this world. Our actions, decisions, and relationships should reflect this heavenly citizenship. Being a warrior in God’s kingdom means living in anticipation of Jesus’ return and allowing His transformative power to work through us, shaping us to be more like Him every day. It's a tall order, sure, but it’s also a noble calling—one that requires diligence, discipline, and a whole lot of heart.
Focus Points to work on:
Reflect God’s Character: Start by asking yourself daily, "Do my actions reflect the character of the kingdom I belong to?" This could mean practicing patience in traffic, showing kindness to a difficult coworker, or maintaining integrity when it’s easier not to. Small choices lead to big changes in character.
Maintain Eternal Perspective: Keep the bigger picture in mind. When you’re faced with challenges or decisions, weigh them against eternal consequences. This perspective can radically change our priorities and actions, making us more focused on what truly matters—things like justice, mercy, and faithfulness.
Engage in Community Service: A true kingdom citizen looks out not only for his own interests but also for the interests of others. Find ways to serve within your community that align with your calling. Whether it’s helping at a local food bank, mentoring young people, or supporting a family in need, these acts of service are practical demonstrations of our heavenly citizenship.
Conclusion: Being a warrior of God isn't about how tough we can appear; it’s about how closely our lives align with the values of God’s kingdom. It’s about letting every action, every word, and every decision be influenced by the fact that we serve a higher King and are citizens of a heavenly realm.
Call to Action: This week, pick one of the focus points and act on it. Maybe start with reflecting God’s character. Identify one area where you can better represent God’s kingdom, and make a conscious effort to improve in that area. Document the changes you notice in yourself and in how others respond to you.
Question of the Day: What's one area of your life where you struggle to reflect your heavenly citizenship, and what steps can you take to address this?
Let's Pray: Heavenly Father, remind us daily of our true home and help us live as faithful citizens of Your kingdom. Give us the strength to embody Your virtues and the courage to stand up as warriors who reflect Your love and justice. Amen.
Alright, everyone, let’s step up and live out our kingdom citizenship with honor, courage, and commitment. Remember, we’re not just fighting the good fight; we’re showing the world what it means to be part of something bigger. Let's Get To Work...
