Location: Israel
Time: Circa 50 A.D.
Primary Scripture: Acts 18 — The ministry and partnership of Priscilla and Aquila.
Priscilla, seated in a modest home filled with the hum of quiet activity, speaks to a gathering of women and men eager to learn from her wisdom. Her demeanor is warm yet confident, the voice of one who has walked the road of faith with both courage and love.
Priscilla:
When people speak of me, it is often in the context of my partnership with my husband, Aquila. And indeed, it is true that much of what we have accomplished has been done together. But tonight, I want to speak not only of what we have done, but of how we have done it — through the relationships God has woven into our lives and the enduring love that sustains them.
We first came to Corinth under difficult circumstances, driven from Rome when Emperor Claudius expelled the Jews. It was a time of loss and uncertainty, yet it was also a time when God’s providence became clear. In Corinth, we met Paul, a man who spoke with boldness and passion about the Messiah. He came to us not as the great apostle we now revere, but as a humble tentmaker, seeking work and shelter. In those early days, our bond was not forged in theology, but in labor, as we worked side by side, stitching fabric and sharing meals.
