Time: Circa 1500 B.C.
Primary Scriptures: Numbers 14:24; Joshua 15:16-19; Judges 1:14-15 — The story of Caleb’s daughter, Achsah, and her legacy of wholehearted faith.
Achsah stands near the spring-fed fields of the Negev, where her family has thrived. Her confident demeanor and clear voice reflect the strength of her heritage. A small gathering of women and men from her community listen closely as she shares the wisdom passed down from her father, Caleb.
Achsah:
When people speak of my father, Caleb, they speak of his courage, his unwavering faith, and his wholehearted commitment to the Lord. I am proud to be his daughter, but today, I want to tell you what it means to live wholeheartedly, not only as Caleb’s child but as a servant of the same God who guided him and now guides me.
My father was one of the twelve spies sent by Moses to scout the Promised Land. You know the story well. Ten of the spies returned with fear in their hearts, warning that the land, though beautiful, was filled with giants and fortified cities. Only my father and Joshua stood firm, urging the people to trust in the Lord and enter the land He had promised us. My father’s words were not just bold; they were born of a heart fully committed to God. He saw not the size of the giants but the greatness of our God.
