I wanted to know more about the depth of forgiveness. Although I thought I had mastered the ability to forgive, these two verses caught my attention. How did they (Jesus and Stephen) do it? What was the heart behind their action? It's good to consider these things.

Luke 23:34 And Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they cast lots to divide his garments.

Acts 7:59–60 And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” [60] And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep. (ESV)
