When You’re Just DONE: Breaking Free from the Lies Holding You Back
TODAY'S FOCUS IS: Letting Go and Trusting God for a New Beginning
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding." —Proverbs 3:5
Men of God,
Are you exhausted? Not physically, but spiritually, mentally, emotionally? Have you been holding onto something for so long—some belief, some bitterness, some disappointment—that you’re just done?
We men are masters at clinging to things that weigh us down. We hold onto past failures, old grievances, and deeply ingrained doubts. We grip onto our own understanding of how life should work, even when it’s clear that understanding is failing us. And if we’re honest, there are times when our grip tightens out of stubbornness, not faith.
But what happens when that stubbornness turns into spiritual exhaustion? What happens when we reach the breaking point and realize that whatever we’ve been clinging to just isn’t working?
This is where God steps in, not to condemn, but to invite us into something better.
Tired of Carrying the Weight?
Maybe you’ve been skeptical about God’s faithfulness, convinced He’s let you down too many times. Maybe you’ve been carrying resentment toward someone who hurt you, unable to forgive. Maybe you’ve been listening to the enemy’s voice, telling you that you’ll never be free from your past, that you’ll always be the man defined by his worst mistakes.
Brother, you don’t have to carry this anymore.
The enemy wants you to stay weighed down, stuck in the same cycle, unable to move forward. He wants you to believe that changing your mind, changing your heart, is impossible.
But Jesus says otherwise.
"Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, ‘I believe; help my unbelief!’” (Mark 9:24).
This father didn’t have perfect faith. He wanted to believe, but he was struggling. Instead of faking confidence, he admitted his doubt and asked Jesus for help.
That’s the first step, brother. Acknowledging where you’re stuck and asking God to help you move forward.
What’s Keeping You Stuck?
Let’s get real for a moment.
Are you tired of being a skeptic? You’ve been hesitant to fully trust God, convinced He’s distant or uninterested.
Are you exhausted from carrying bitterness? Someone wronged you, and you’ve held onto that resentment like a badge of honor.
Are you done beating yourself up? Your past haunts you, and you feel unworthy of grace.
Are you burned out from doing life your way? You’ve tried to control everything, and it’s only left you drained.
Whatever it is, whatever belief has kept you locked in frustration, it’s time to surrender it.
"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." (Ephesians 4:22-24)
It’s time to get rid of it. Time to stop making excuses. Time to trust God’s way over your own.
What Do We Do?
1. Name It.
You can’t surrender what you won’t admit. Identify the belief, the bitterness, the struggle you’ve been holding onto. Be specific. Write it down. Say it out loud.
2. Bring It to God.
Jesus isn’t asking for a perfectly polished prayer. He’s asking for honesty. Tell Him exactly how you feel:
"Lord, I’ve been holding onto this for too long. I don’t want to live like this anymore. Help me believe. Help me let go."
3. Replace the Lie with Truth.
Find what God’s Word says about your struggle. If you’ve believed that God won’t come through, stand on Romans 8:28: "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
If you’ve been trapped in self-condemnation, cling to 2 Corinthians 5:17: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."
4. Walk in Freedom.
God doesn’t want you stuck. He wants you free. That means making decisions every day that align with His truth instead of your old patterns. It means choosing faith over fear, forgiveness over resentment, and surrender over self-reliance.
Challenge of the Week
Take 10 minutes today to sit with God and do two things:
Write down one belief, struggle, or burden you’re ready to surrender. Be specific.
Pray boldly. Hand it over to God. Ask Him to replace it with His truth.
Then, tell a brother in Christ. Share your struggle. Accountability strengthens resolve, and iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17).
Let’s Pray
Father,
I’m tired of carrying this weight. I’ve believed things that aren’t true. I’ve held onto things I should’ve let go of long ago. Today, I surrender. I give You my doubts, my bitterness, my pride, my need for control. Replace these things with Your truth. Strengthen my heart to walk in faith. I trust You, Lord, even when I don’t understand. Make me into the man You created me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Brother, today is your turning point. You don’t have to live stuck. Choose freedom. Choose faith. Choose surrender.
Let’s Get To Work!
That’s a strong argument to be made to a lost world. Great work, I pray for your work to bring forth miracles and awaken many men and women. We have gone off the track in America and we must turn soon before total destruction takes place in judgement by our Heavenly Father. I pray that God will give us humble hearts and a striving mind to live in the truth.
