When You Are Rode Hard...And Hung Up Wet
TODAY'S FOCUS IS: Trusting God to Renew Our Minds
Good day, gentlemen. Today we're tackling a subject close to the hearts of many of us. It's about those beliefs that we cling to, those stubborn notions that we've held onto for far too long, even when they weigh us down. It's about the moment when we're just . . . done.
We've all been there. We find ourselves clinging to beliefs about God, others, or ourselves that are no longer serving us. These beliefs might be steeped in skepticism, bitterness, or self-criticism. But there comes a time when change is necessary. The question is, how do we let go of these stubborn beliefs and embrace a new mindset?
Scripture: Let's turn to the wisdom of Proverbs 3:5: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding."
This verse reminds us that our understanding can sometimes be limited, and placing our trust in God can lead to greater insight and transformation.
2-Minute How-To Training: First, identify the belief you're struggling with. Is it doubt in God's plan, unforgiveness, or harsh self-judgment? Once identified, let's take a page out of the Apostle Paul's book: “Get rid of it!” (Ephesians 4:20-24 MSG). This doesn't mean suppressing or ignoring it. It means acknowledging it and then bringing it to God in prayer.
Speak to God honestly. Tell Him you're tired of holding onto this belief and that you desire His help in changing your mindset. Remember the father who brought his son to Jesus in Mark 9:24? He cried, "I believe; help my unbelief!" This is a powerful example of asking God to aid us in our struggle with doubt and stubborn beliefs.
Conclusion:
Changing our beliefs isn't just about discarding old thoughts. It's about aligning ourselves with God's truth and stepping into the new identity He has for us. It's about transforming into the men God intends us to be.
Call to Action:
This week, I challenge you to identify one belief you need to change. Bring it to God in prayer, asking for His guidance and strength to renew your mind.
Question for the Day: What belief are you holding onto that you need God's help to change?
Prayer:
Lord, we come before you as men seeking transformation. Help us identify the beliefs that hold us back and give us the courage to lay them at Your feet. Guide us in our journey towards a renewed mind and a heart aligned with Your will. Amen.
Remember, gentlemen, the journey of faith is a continuous one. Each day is an opportunity to grow closer to God and become the men He has called us to be. Stay strong, stay faithful, and let's walk this path together.
