Trust No One—Except God
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts." —Psalm 28:7
"The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts." —Psalm 28:7
Warriors, let’s not sugarcoat this—trust is hard. Especially for men. We struggle with transparency, with letting down our guard and revealing what’s really going on inside. How many times have we heard (or said) things like, “I don’t know these guys that well,” or “I have a hard time trusting people”? These are excuses we use to avoid vulnerability, to stay hidden behind a wall of false strength. But let me tell you something—that wall is a prison, not a fortress.
The Apostle Paul throws down a challenge:
“having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor” (Ephesians 4:25).
That’s no small thing, brother. But it’s exactly what we’re called to do—speak the truth to one another, be real, raw, honest. So why do we hesitate? Why do we wait for “complete trust” before we open up?
Let’s get one thing straight: You can’t fully trust any man. Not one. Every single one of us is broken—every single one of us has fallen short (Romans 3:23). If you’re waiting for complete trust, you’ll be waiting forever. Every man is capable of betrayal, failure, or letting you down, even those closest to you. But here’s the good news: Your trust is in God—not man. He is the strength and shield that will never fail you (Psalm 118:8). When He calls you to be open and vulnerable with your brothers, it’s not about how much you trust them—it’s about how much you trust Him.
Let’s face it: Being vulnerable is risky. It may not always turn out how you want. But if God is calling you to transparency, to let go of pride and fear, then your obedience is what counts. And God’s perspective is all that matters.
So, what’s the next step?
The next time you’re meeting with a brother—or a few—look around. Ask yourself: Who here do I trust more than God? And when you realize the answer is no one, remind yourself, “I trust God. And because I trust Him, I know what I need to do.” That means no more lies, no more pretending, no more posturing. Drop the excuses, tear down the walls, and let your brothers see the real you.

This is a wonderful message, hopefully many more can see it sooner rather than later.
Amen.
