TOV 25-137 Hearing Through Scripture and People

TODAY’S FOCUS IS: Recognizing God's Voice in His Word—and in the People He Sends

God speaks in many ways, but two of the most consistent are right in front of you: His Word and His people. Too many men wait for a booming voice from heaven while ignoring the Bible gathering dust—or the wise mentor God placed in their life.

You want to hear God clearly? Open your Bible. You want to understand His leading? Pay attention to the godly voices He’s already put around you.

Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” — 2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)

Scripture isn’t just history—it’s God’s voice in print. If you want to hear Him speak, start by reading what He’s already said. It’s alive. It convicts. It guides.

And then there are the people. Proverbs says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” God often uses pastors, friends, mentors, and even family members to confirm, convict, and encourage. But you have to stay teachable. You have to stay connected.

A lone wolf may feel tough, but he’s vulnerable. Real men walk in wisdom by walking in community and anchoring themselves in the Word.

Question of the Day:
Are you actively listening to God through His Word and the people He’s placed in your life—or have you tuned them out?

Let’s Pray:
Father, thank You for speaking through Your Word and through others. Give me a hunger for Scripture and humility to receive correction, wisdom, and truth through those You’ve sent. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let’s Get To Work!
You don’t need a new voice—you need to return to the voice that’s never stopped speaking. Open the Word. Listen to the wise. God is speaking.
