TOV 24-072 Divine Competence: Embracing Our Spiritual Empowerment

TODAY'S FOCUS IS: Recognizing Our God-Given Capabilities for Ministry
1

Welcome to The Tribe Of Valor Podcast. In today’s reflection, we immerse ourselves in the empowering message of 2 Corinthians 3:5-6. This scripture invites us into a profound realization that our capacity to contribute meaningfully to God's kingdom does not originate from our personal achievements or inherent abilities. Instead, it is God who equips us, making us competent to serve as ministers of a new covenant. This understanding reshapes our perspective on service, calling, and our rights as participants in God’s divine plan.

Today, We Anchor Ourselves in: 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 - "Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant..."

Paul's words to the Corinthians serve as a timely reminder that our spiritual effectiveness is a gift from God, not a product of our efforts. This truth does not diminish our role but rather highlights the magnificence of God’s grace in choosing us as His instruments. Recognizing our God-given competence involves several key understandings:

  1. Divine Empowerment: Our ability to serve in God’s kingdom is endowed by Him. This empowerment is a testament to His grace, intending that we rely not on our strength but on His.

  2. Ministers of a New Covenant: Being made competent as ministers involves embracing the new covenant of grace through Jesus Christ. Our ministry is one of reconciliation, sharing the transformative message of the Gospel.

  3. Humility and Confidence: Acknowledging that our competence comes from God fosters humility. Yet, it also instills a confidence not in ourselves but in the One who empowers us.

Full 2 Minutes of "Focus Training":

  • First Minute (Reflection): Quietly reflect on areas of your life and ministry where you’ve felt inadequate or overwhelmed. Recognize these feelings and then consciously release them to God, trusting in His competence over your own.

  • Second Minute (Prayer and Commitment): Pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with a deep sense of God-given competence. Ask for guidance on where He is calling you to serve. Commit to stepping out in faith, relying on His strength rather than your own.

Conclusion:

Our journey as believers is marked by continuous learning and growth, often in the realization of our dependence on God for all things. The message of 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 is not only about our inadequacy but, more importantly, about God’s abundant provision. By focusing on our rights given by God, including the right to serve as ministers of the new covenant, we open ourselves to the full spectrum of His grace and the empowerment it brings.

Daily Call to Action:

Identify one area of service or ministry where you’ve hesitated to contribute due to feelings of inadequacy. Commit to taking a step of faith this week in that area, trusting in God’s competence rather than your own.

A Question of The Day: How does recognizing your competence as coming from God change your approach to serving in His kingdom?

Let's Pray:

Lord, we are grateful for the competence You graciously provide, making us capable of serving Your kingdom in ways we never could on our own. Help us to lean into Your strength and wisdom, to serve confidently as ministers of the new covenant. May our lives reflect the transformative power of Your grace. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Thank you for joining us on The Tribe Of Valor Podcast. As you go forth, remember that it is God who qualifies and empowers you for every good work. Let this assurance guide you as you embrace your God-given rights and responsibilities in His service. Until next time, may you walk in the confidence of His divine competence. Let’s Get to work…
