⚔️ Real Men of God: Spiritual Warfare and the Way of Sun Tzu
What If One of the Greatest Military Minds Had the Mind of Christ?
I got to thinking about Sun Tzu the other day—yeah, that Sun Tzu. The ancient Chinese general, the author of The Art of War, and one of the most brilliant military strategists in history. This guy lived 500 years before Jesus walked the earth and had nothing to do with the God of Israel. Let me be clear—not a Christian by any stretch of the imagination. But his insight into war, strategy, and preparation? That’s something every believer should pay attention to…especially if we actually believe we are in a war.
Because we are.
Not a physical war. Not a political war. But a spiritual war. And most of God’s people are walking onto the battlefield in flip flops, wondering why they're getting torn apart. It’s time to change that.
Sun Tzu said, “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.”
Now imagine that through the lens of the Bible:
“More than that, we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
What if I told you that you’ve already been positioned to win—if you follow the Commander’s orders?
WHO WAS SUN TZU…AND WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Let’s get the history lesson out of the way. Sun Tzu was a Chinese general and military strategist in the 6th century B.C. His book, The Art of War, is still used today in military academies, corporate boardrooms, and political circles. Why? Because his wisdom works. His core teachings center on understanding your enemy, knowing yourself, anticipating terrain, adapting in real time, and never fighting a battle unprepared.
The man thought like a general, moved like a predator, and planned like a prophet. His entire philosophy was built on awareness, discipline, and decisive action.
But here’s where it gets interesting.
What if we took the process of Sun Tzu—and filtered it through the power of the Holy Spirit? What if men of God stopped swinging their swords aimlessly and started training for the war they’re actually in?
WE'RE LAUNCHING A 50-PART SERIES FOR WARRIORS OF GOD
Starting next Wednesday, and every Wednesday after that, we’re diving into a 50-part spiritual warfare series:
S.W.A.T. — Spiritual Warfare And Tactics.
This is NOT Sunday School. This is boot camp.
Whether you're a 17-year-old high school student, a 45-year-old father of five, or a 70-year-old veteran—if you follow Jesus, you are a soldier. And soldiers don’t get to say, “I don’t feel like fighting today.” Because the enemy didn’t take a day off. Satan and his demons are strategizing right now to destroy your faith, crush your family, poison your thoughts, and turn your calling into a catastrophe.
That’s why this matters.
SUN TZU THROUGH A BIBLICAL LENS
Let’s take another one of Sun Tzu’s famous quotes and baptize it in truth.
Sun Tzu said:
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.”
Here’s what that sounds like with the mind of Christ:
“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)
“Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith.” (2 Corinthians 13:5)
Sun Tzu believed in intelligence before engagement. The Bible calls it discernment. Know the enemy’s tactics. Know your weaknesses. But most importantly—know the God who fights for you.
Because spiritual warfare is not about muscle. It’s not about volume. It’s not about yelling louder than the devil. It's about obedience, righteousness, discernment, and unshakable faith.
THE BATTLE PLAN OF GOD'S WARRIOR
Here’s what every man of God needs to understand before we dive into this series.
You were born into war.
You don’t get to opt out. From Genesis 3 onward, this has been a battleground. Jesus didn’t come to earth to start a religion—He came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).Your armor is divine.
Ephesians 6 lays it out: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, sword of the Spirit. Each piece is tactical. Each piece has a purpose. But it’s useless if it stays on the rack. The battlefield is in your mind, your home, and your habits.
Stop looking for demons in the shadows. Most of them are hiding in plain sight—in what you watch, what you tolerate, and what you fail to pray about.Victory is promised—but not without engagement.
God didn’t say you’d never have to fight. He said He’d be with you in the fight. “Submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
SPIRITUAL WARFARE — GOD'S WAY
Sun Tzu’s tactics were brilliant—but they’re powerless without the presence of God. That’s where most Christian men fail. We read the Bible like a motivational book. We quote scripture like a hashtag. But we don’t live like we’re at war.
We don't train like we're at war.
We’re launching this 50-part series to change that. Every Wednesday, we’ll take you deeper into the tactics of spiritual warfare—from recognizing demonic strongholds to walking in daily authority, from praying offensively to protecting your family from unseen threats.
We’ll show you how to move in power, not panic. How to stand in armor, not anxiety. And how to hear from the Holy Spirit in the middle of chaos.
LET ME LEAVE YOU WITH THIS
Sun Tzu’s greatest victories were won before the battle began. Because he prepared. He studied. He built a foundation that couldn’t be shaken when the arrows flew.
And the Holy Spirit is calling you to do the same.
Not with your fists—but with your faith.
Not with your opinions—but with your obedience.
Not with fear—but with fire.
The enemy isn't scared of Christians who go to church on Sunday. He’s scared of Christians who know who they are in Christ and live like it on Monday.
So let’s train. Let’s suit up. Let’s learn the strategy. Let’s hear from Heaven and unleash Hell on the enemy’s plans.
ARE YOU IN?
Next Wednesday we begin.
Lesson One: Know Your Enemy, Know Your Commander.
Because the first rule of war isn’t to fight harder. It’s to fight smarter—and Spirit-filled.
Until then—get your mind right. Pray in the Spirit. Open your Bible like it’s your battle manual. Because it is.
Let’s Get to Work.
Let’s Go to War.
Challenge of the Week:
Find one area of your life where you’ve been under spiritual attack—and commit to fighting it God’s way. Write it down. Pray over it. Ask God for discernment. And tell one trusted brother in Christ.
Let’s Pray:
Father, train our hands for war and our fingers for battle. Give us the mind of Christ and the heart of a warrior. Let us walk in the victory You’ve already won—and never back down from the call. Equip us, anoint us, and send us out in the power of Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
🔥 S.W.A.T. begins next week.
Real Men. Real Battles. Real Victory.
Let’s get to work.
Thank you for sharing. Very interesting 👌
