My Name Is Zimri...
I was a commander of half of the chariots of Israel under the rule of King Elah.
Dear Believers,
I am Zimri, a name that perhaps is not well-regarded in our sacred scriptures. My life, as recounted in 1 Kings 16:15-20, is a tale of ambition, betrayal, and a tragic end—a narrative that stands as a testament to the folly of achieving power through unjust means.
I was a commander of half of the chariots of Israel under the rule of King Elah. My tale begins in earnest during a time when King Elah was at his weakest—lost in the excesses of a drunken feast at the home of his palace administrator, Arza. Seizing the opportunity, I betrayed my king and murdered him, declaring myself the ruler of Israel in his stead.
