Dear Believers,
I am Rehoboam, son of Solomon and Naamah the Ammonitess, and the first king of the southern kingdom of Judah after Israel was split into two. My story is found in the Bible, mainly in 1 Kings 12:1-24, 14:21-31, and 2 Chronicles 10-12.
When my father Solomon passed away, I was made king. But my reign began with a crisis. The people, led by Jeroboam, my father’s servant, were weary of Solomon's harsh labor policies. They approached me in Shechem, seeking assurance that I would lighten the burdensome yoke (1 Kings 12:1-4).
