Dear New Believers,
My name is Rachel, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my life story with you. As the beloved wife of Jacob and the mother of Joseph and Benjamin, my life has been a journey filled with love, trials, and unwavering faithfulness of God. I hope that my experiences will serve as a testament to the power of the Lord's love and inspire you to trust in His divine plan.
I was born in the city of Haran, the daughter of Laban and the younger sister of Leah. My life changed forever when Jacob, my cousin, arrived in search of refuge from his brother Esau. From the moment I laid eyes on him, I knew that our lives were destined to be intertwined.
Jacob fell in love with me as well, and he agreed to work for my father for seven years in order to marry me. However, on our wedding night, my father deceived Jacob and secretly substituted my sister Leah in my place. Jacob was understandably heartbroken and angered by this betrayal, but he agreed to work an additional seven years in order to marry me as well.
Throughout our marriage, Jacob's love for me was evident, but so too was the rivalry between my sister and me. I struggled with feelings of jealousy and bitterness, as Leah bore Jacob many sons while I remained barren. In my despair, I cried out to the Lord and prayed for His intervention.
In His mercy, God heard my prayers and blessed me with a son, Joseph. My joy was indescribable, and I praised the Lord for answering my pleas. Joseph would grow up to be a man of great faith and wisdom, ultimately saving his family and the people of Egypt from famine. Later, I gave birth to another son, Benjamin, who would also play a crucial role in the history of our people.
However, my life was not without sorrow. I passed away while giving birth to Benjamin, and my heart ached at the thought of leaving my beloved husband and children. Yet, even in the face of death, I held onto my faith in God's plan for my family.
My life has been a testament to the Lord's love, faithfulness, and the beauty of His divine plan. Though I faced trials and heartache, I also experienced the joy of being a mother and the privilege of being a part of God's covenant with His people.
As you begin your own journey of faith, I encourage you to trust in the Lord's plan for your life, even when it seems challenging or uncertain. God's love for us is constant and unwavering, and He will guide us through every obstacle and trial we may face. Let my story serve as a reminder of His faithfulness and the transformative power of His love.
With humility and gratitude,
Rachel
