My Name Is Joseph...
Joseph, son of Jacob, a dreamer redeemed, and an instrument of God’s grace
Dear Children of Faith,
I am Joseph, the eleventh son of Jacob, and through this letter, I recount the journey of my life—from the depths of slavery to the heights of Egyptian power. It is a tale marked by dreams, betrayal, providence, and the unyielding faithfulness of God. As you read these words, may you find hope and encouragement, learning to trust in God’s sovereignty and timing, regardless of your current circumstances.
My story begins in Canaan, where I was favored by my father, Jacob, who made me a richly ornamented robe. This favoritism, however, sowed seeds of envy and hatred among my brothers. My youthful indiscretion in sharing dreams that foretold my rise above them only deepened their resentment. “Here comes that dreamer!” they said to each other before throwing me into a cistern and selling me into slavery to Ishmaelite traders heading to Egypt (Genesis 37:19, NIV).
