To all who would listen, to the people of Israel, Nineveh, and beyond,
I pen this letter in humble acknowledgment of the God of Israel, who is the God of all creation. My name is Jonah, son of Amittai, a prophet from the land of Gath-Hepher. You may know me better as the man who was swallowed by a great fish—yet lived to tell the tale. My life stands as proof of the saying, "But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness" (Psalm 86:15).
As a prophet, I was called to speak the word of God to His people. A noble calling, one would think, filled with the joy of relaying divine messages.
