Dear Believers,
I am Jeroboam I, the first king of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, a story you'll find in 1 Kings 11:26-14:20 and 2 Chronicles 10-13. My tale is a testament to the potential of God's favor, but also a stark warning against disobedience and idolatry.
In the days of Solomon, I served as an official. Recognizing my industriousness, Solomon appointed me to oversee the labor force of the house of Joseph. However, our relationship soured when the prophet Ahijah prophesied that ten tribes of Israel would be torn from Solomon's hand and given to me (1 Kings 11:28-31).
