I was born to my father Isaac and mother Rebekah in the land of Canaan, with my brother Jacob following closely on my heels, grasping my ankle as we entered the world. As the firstborn son, I was entitled to the birthright, which included a double portion of my father's inheritance and the spiritual leadership of our family. However, my choices and priorities would ultimately lead me down a different path.
