MISSION OVER EGO: HOW MEN OF GOD REFOCUS THEIR DRIVE
TODAY'S FOCUS IS: Trading Pride for Purpose and Position for Power—God’s Kind
“But let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.” —Luke 22:26 (ESV)
Warriors, let’s have a hard talk. We’re built with drive. God placed in us the wiring to lead, to build, to conquer. It’s why men push hard. We grind. We stay late. We make plans. We run full-speed toward greatness—because deep down, we want our lives to mean something. But here’s the problem...
We’ve let the world define what greatness looks like.
We chase promotion, praise, reputation, and power. We crave titles, platforms, or respect. And while none of that is wrong in itself—when we’re not aligned with God’s Kingdom blueprint, that drive becomes dangerous.
It becomes about me. My gain. My climb. My platform.
JESUS DIDN’T CANCEL GREATNESS. HE REDEFINED IT.
Think about it—right before Jesus was arrested, betrayed, and crucified… His disciples were arguing over who was the greatest.
“A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.” —Luke 22:24 (ESV)
What does Jesus do? He doesn’t rebuke their drive for greatness. He redirects it.
“But I am among you as the one who serves.” —Luke 22:27 (ESV)
That right there is our battlefield order: Drop the pursuit of position and pick up the towel.
The greatest Man who ever lived—the King of kings—washed feet. He served the sick. He embraced the outcasts. And He laid down His life for broken men like us. That is not weakness. That’s divine masculinity.
MEN WHO SERVE ARE MEN WHO WIN
Refocusing your drive isn’t about giving up. It’s about aiming higher.
🤜 You were made to build—but build people.
🤜 You were made to conquer—but conquer selfishness.
🤜 You were made to lead—but lead by serving.
Jesus flipped the script. Now it’s your turn.
THIS IS WAR AGAINST YOUR FLESH
Pride is your enemy. Entitlement is a lie. And ego? It will bury your purpose.
When you live to elevate yourself, you may build a name—but you won’t build a legacy.
When you live to serve others, you’re not just echoing Jesus… you’re advancing His Kingdom.
“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.” —Philippians 2:3 (ESV)
This is how warriors of God operate. We don’t need credit. We don’t need recognition. We don’t need to be seen. We just need to be effective. And the most effective men of God are those who use their strength to lift others.
HOW DO WE DO THIS?
This isn’t theory. This is action. And it starts today.
Look around.
Who’s near you that needs what you’ve got? Your strength? Your words? Your time? Your resources?Step down, so someone else can rise up.
Make space. Hand off the spotlight. Let someone else shine. That’s Kingdom leadership.Serve where it’s inconvenient.
Don’t just help when it’s easy or when it makes you look good. Serve where it’s gritty, behind the scenes, when no one will ever see it.Kill your need to be noticed.
Let your work speak. Let your service echo into eternity. Men who make the biggest impact often go unseen—except by God. And that’s enough.
“And whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.” —Matthew 20:27-28 (ESV)
FINAL CHALLENGE, BROTHER:
Look at the people God has already placed in your path—your coworkers, your spouse, your kids, your church, your friends, your team. Don’t wait for a title. Don’t wait for permission. Don’t wait for a better opportunity. Start serving them now.
Serving is not beneath you—it’s what you were born to do.
Let’s Get To Work.
