Dear Brothers and Sisters in Faith,
I am Balak, the son of Zippor, once the king of Moab, a nation that trembled at the approach of the Israelites. This letter is written to recount the events that unfolded during my reign, marked by fear and my desperate attempts to control the destiny of my people through divine intervention.
As the Israelites encamped on the plains of Moab, their sheer numbers and the tales of their conquests sent waves of fear through my heart and the hearts of my people. Their God had led them out of Egypt with a mighty hand, and now they were at our doorstep. In desperation to protect my kingdom and people from what seemed an inevitable conquest, I sought the services of Balaam, a prophet renowned for his ability to bless and curse with great effect.
