Healing Through Faith: My Journey from MS to Miracles – Part One
TODAY'S FOCUS IS: The Power of Our Words in Receiving God's Healing
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." — Proverbs 18:21 (ESV)
My name is Matthew Adams. I am (as of this post) 65 years young…and I have a story that I would like to share…
God has really blessed me. He healed me of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), reduced my blood pressure from a life-threatening 212/202 to a steady 133/76—completely medication-free!
But let me tell you, this journey was far from easy.
When I was first diagnosed with MS, I was furious.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME…WHAT THE H***!!"
I carried that diagnosis for about two years. Every time someone asked, “How’s your MS?” or “Is your MS any better?” it only reinforced the fact that I owned it. It became mine—something I carried and accepted, even though I was desperately praying for God to heal me.
Then one day, I was walking, and I asked God, “God…I have been praying faithfully for You to heal me of my MS…”
And then—He answered.
"Your MS? My child…I have healed you, but you keep taking it back from Me and claiming it as your own. If you are going to give it to Me…then give it all to Me and believe FOR your healing."
That moment hit me like a ton of bricks.
The Power of Our Words
I had been praying for healing while at the same time constantly claiming the disease. Every time I spoke of my MS, I was reinforcing ownership of something God had already declared gone.
The Bible is clear: our words have power.
Proverbs 18:21 – "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."
Mark 11:23 – "Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him."
Matthew 12:37 – "For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
We can literally speak life or death into our circumstances. The enemy wants nothing more than for us to speak words of defeat and ownership over our struggles—because that keeps us bound to them.
After that day, I made a radical decision:
I NEVER reclaimed MS.
I refused to call it "my MS." I refused to let others speak it over me.
And let me tell you—people thought I was crazy!
Even my wife, Michelle, looked at me like I had lost my mind.
But I stood firm. I was healed, and I was going to walk in that healing.
The MRI That Proved God’s Healing
Several weeks later, I went in for an MRI. Michelle came with me.
The neurologist called me into his office, looked at me, and said,
"Tell me, Mr. Adams…why are you here?"
I told him that I had been diagnosed with MS and that previous MRIs had shown scarring on my brain caused by the disease.
He pulled up the most recent scan.
And then, he just stared.
He flipped back and forth between images, comparing my old MRIs to the new one. Finally, he looked at me and said:
"I don’t know what happened, Mr. Adams…but there is no sign of MS or any scarring. Now, I did see it on the last two scans… but on this one? Nothing."
Both Michelle and I were in shock.
But only for a second.
Because right there in that doctor’s office, we both shouted:
"THANK YOU, JESUS!!"
What Did I Learn?
That’s what I’ll share in Part Two.
Stay tuned, my friend. This story isn’t over yet.
Challenge of the Week:
Pay attention to your words. Are you speaking life or death into your situation?
Take note of any areas where you have claimed sickness, defeat, or struggle as your own.
Ask God to help you change your speech and align it with His promises.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God of healing, miracles, and restoration. Forgive me for the times I have spoken words of defeat over my life. Help me to walk in faith and speak only what aligns with Your truth. I declare that I am healed, whole, and victorious in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you for sharing!
