Finding Home: Where Do You Find Rest in God?
TODAY’S FOCUS IS: Discovering the Place Where God Restores Your Soul
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." —Matthew 11:28
Where Do You Go to Find Rest?
Life is exhausting.
The weight of responsibilities, the constant demands, the never-ending battle between what needs to get done and the time we actually have—it all stacks up.
Men are wired to carry the load, to provide, to lead, to protect. But we’re not wired to carry it alone.
David understood this. That’s why he wrote:
“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness” (Psalm 23:2-3).
David knew where to find home.
Not a physical location—not his palace, not the battlefield, not the wilderness where he ran for his life. His home was wherever he found rest in God.
What about you?
Where is your home? Where do you go when the burden gets too heavy?
The Problem: We Keep Running But Never Arrive
The world never stops.
The distractions never quit.
The weight on your shoulders never lifts unless you set it down.
But here’s the problem—most men don’t know how to set it down.
Some numb themselves with work.
Some escape through entertainment.
Some self-medicate with pornography, alcohol, or food.
Some just keep grinding, convincing themselves that rest is for the weak.
But Jesus tells us:
🚨 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
Rest isn’t optional—it’s a command. Because a man who never rests is a man who is destined to collapse.
And that collapse will cost more than just your health.
❌ It will cost your relationships.
❌ It will cost your joy.
❌ It will cost your ability to hear God’s voice.
That’s why we need to find our green pastures.
Where Do You Hear God the Clearest?
Every man is designed uniquely.
Some men feel closest to God when they’re alone in the early morning, Bible open, coffee in hand.
Some hear Him when they’re out in nature—hiking, running, or just sitting in silence.
Some feel God’s presence while worshiping in church, or in deep conversation with other godly men.
📌 Your place of rest is not about a location—it’s about your connection.
So let me ask you: Where do you connect with God the most?
If you’re struggling to answer that, it might be because you haven’t been there in a long time.
🚨 Your soul is starving, and you don’t even realize it.
What Do We Do?
1. Identify Where You Meet God Best
Think back.
👉 When have you most felt God’s peace?
👉 When have you been fully present with Him?
👉 What were you doing? Where were you?
God has already spoken through those moments. He’s shown you where your soul finds rest. Now it’s time to go back.
2. Prioritize Your Green Pasture
🚨 If it’s not scheduled, it won’t happen.
We prioritize what we value. You don’t “find time” to seek God. You make time.
✔ Set an alarm for early prayer.
✔ Take a walk and just listen to God.
✔ Read Scripture instead of scrolling your phone.
✔ Spend time in deep, godly conversation.
✔ Fast from distractions that clutter your mind.
Your soul is desperate for home—but you have to choose to go there.
3. Protect Your Rest Like Your Life Depends on It
Because it does.
Satan wants you too busy to rest.
He wants you to believe that work matters more than worship, that hustle is holy and stillness is weakness.
🛑 That is a lie.
God commanded rest (Exodus 20:8-10). Jesus modeled rest (Mark 6:31). The Holy Spirit works best when we slow down and listen (John 14:26).
So protect your green pasture. Fight for it. Guard it like your soul depends on it—because it does.
Challenge of the Week
✅ Decide where your green pasture is—the place you connect with God.
✅ Block out time this week to go there and be with Him.
✅ Tell a brother what you’re committing to, so he can hold you accountable.
Let’s Pray
Father,
I have carried too much for too long. I have ignored rest, pushed through exhaustion, and tried to do life in my own strength. But today, I surrender that mindset. Show me where You’ve called me to rest. Show me my green pasture, my place of renewal. Give me the wisdom and discipline to go there consistently. I trust You to restore my soul. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Your soul is tired. God is calling you home.
Will you listen?
Let’s Get to Work!
Thank you
