"They committed themselves to the teaching of the apostles, the life together, the common meal, and the prayers." —Acts 2:42
Brother, do you want to get stronger and tougher? The key is connection. When life hits you with trials and challenges, having a network of people around you can make all the difference. They can help you find courage you didn’t know you had, offer comfort during times of pain and loss, and provide perspective when fear and anxiety cloud your vision.
We all need truth and guidance, and sometimes we can’t see it alone. Your community can teach you and help you grasp what might otherwise remain elusive. They can call you out when you’re stuck, push you forward, and remind you that you are loved despite your mistakes. The support and mercy of those around you can remind you of your worth, even when it’s hard to believe on your own.
The Apostle Paul emphasized the importance of staying connected (Romans 12:15; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Hebrews 3:13). The early Church modeled this by living life together—eating, learning, and praying as one. Why? Because alone, we men are vulnerable. Together, we are stronger and more resilient against life’s ups and downs (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12). Connectedness builds us up, restores us, and fuels us for what lies ahead. And brother, there is important work ahead.
So, what’s your next step?
Take a look at your weekly calendar. Identify the major areas of your life: Work and colleagues, home and family, social and friends, and others. Find at least a couple of people from each group who (1) know you well, (2) understand your context, and (3) prioritize staying connected with you.
It’s time to strengthen those bonds and prepare for what’s ahead. Share your thoughts and plans in the comments below, and let’s support each other on this journey.
Your brother in Christ,
Matthew Adams
Yes I feel fear even now. I know God’s got this, but it seems natural. The evil we face reminds me of the fear as we head into the beast to rescue our comrades when two Blackhawks went down and we will assist withdrawal of our fellow Rangers by infiltrating with massive firepower and then establishing an effective area defense, load the casualties and then ex-filtrate back to base. Regardless of the fear any had felt. They pushed all reservations aside and were silently wondering only one question – “when are we finally going in?” One whole person element that helps now in this Army of God is the fellow Christians who are alert to this evil. I just hope I can be brave as He says we can. God bless and thanks
