One of the most dangerous myths in the Christian life is the belief that intelligence protects you from deception. It doesn’t. Education does not immunize you. Articulation does not shield you. The ability to debate theology does not guarantee clarity of sight. In fact, sometimes intelligence becomes the very tool pride uses to bypass discernment.

We like to assume that deception targets the uninformed. That it preys on the careless. But history, and Scripture, tell a different story. Some of the most spiritually dangerous movements in history were built by brilliant minds. Intelligent people are not less vulnerable; they are often more confident in their vulnerability. And confidence without humility is a crack in the foundation.
