It seems like every step I take toward the Jordan River leads me further into the heart of this unfolding mystery. Today, I made the decision to go there myself. I’d been relying too heavily on Jonah’s reports and hearsay from the streets, and something in my gut told me that if I wanted to understand what was truly happening, I needed to see it with my own eyes.
The journey to the Jordan was not a difficult one—physically, at least. I’ve marched through far harsher terrain during campaigns in the Empire’s provinces. But this trip felt different. I wasn’t leading a detachment of soldiers or responding to any immediate threat. I was searching for answers to questions that had been growing louder in my mind with each passing day: Who is this Jesus? What is He planning? And most importantly, where is He now?
