26-233 Outlasting The Attack

TODAY’S FOCUS IS: How to keep standing when the spiritual attack won’t let up

WELCOME

Paul tells us to put on the whole armor of God, and then he says something specific: having done all, to stand. Not to win in five minutes. Not to end the battle by sundown. To stand, and to keep standing, for however long the attack lasts. Endurance isn’t a footnote in spiritual warfare. It’s the actual instruction.

I want to talk today about outlasting an attack that isn’t stopping on your schedule.

THIS IS FOR YOU IF...You’ve been in a season of spiritual attack that’s lasted longer than you expected, and you’re exhausted from standing, and you’re not sure how much longer you can hold the line.

Stay with me. Standing isn’t passive, and it isn’t weak. It’s the exact instruction Scripture gives for exactly this moment.

BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT
The goal in a long attack isn’t always to end it fast. Sometimes the goal is simply to keep standing until it ends.

OUR SPRINGBOARD FOR TODAY’S DISCUSSION IS:
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” — Ephesians 6:13

MAIN MENTORING

Read Paul’s instruction closely. He doesn’t say put on the armor so you can end the battle quickly. He says put on the armor so you’re able to withstand, and then, having done all, to stand. The final word in his instruction isn’t victory in the sense of the fight ending. It’s standing, holding your ground, for however long the evil day lasts.

That’s not the message we usually want in a long season of attack. We want the fight to be over. We want to hear that if we do everything right, the enemy backs off immediately. Paul doesn’t promise that. He promises armor sufficient to withstand, and a final posture of standing firm, not because the battle is guaranteed to be short, but because the armor is guaranteed to be enough for however long it lasts.

I want you to hear this if you’re in a long fight right now. You are not failing because the attack hasn’t stopped yet. You are not doing something wrong because you’re still standing in the same battle you were standing in last month. Standing, itself, is the instruction. It is not the consolation prize for a battle you couldn’t win fast enough. It is the win, moment by moment, for as long as this evil day lasts.

Put the armor on again today. Stand again. That’s not a lesser outcome. That’s obedience.

DAILY ACTION

Name the specific attack you’ve been standing against. Thank God today, not that it’s over, but that you’re still standing in it. Ask Him for strength to keep standing tomorrow, whether or not the attack ends today.

THE DAILY CHARGE

Stop measuring this fight by whether it’s ended yet. Measure it by whether you’re still standing. Put the armor on again. Hold the ground again. That is not failure. That is exactly what you were told to do.

LET’S PRAY

Father, this attack has lasted longer than I expected, and I’m tired of standing in the same battle. Give me strength to put the armor on again today. Help me measure this season by whether I’m still standing, not by whether the fight has ended yet. Keep me on my feet. In Jesus’ name, amen.
