Sometimes, we expect God to speak only in church or during our quiet time. But what if His whisper comes when we least expect it—in the middle of a traffic jam, a grocery line, or even during a personal crisis? God's voice doesn’t follow our schedule. It breaks through the noise of everyday life and often catches us off guard, not to confuse us, but to remind us that He’s always present—always speaking.
Our springboard for today’s discussion is:
"God called to him out of the bush, ‘Moses, Moses!’ And he said, ‘Here I am.’" —Exodus 3:4 (ESV)
Moses wasn’t praying or in the temple when God called his name. He was tending sheep, doing the same thing he’d likely done every day for forty years. Yet in that ordinary moment, God broke through with a burning bush and a call that would change history.
God still does this today. Maybe not through flaming shrubbery, but through subtle, surprising nudges—a word from a stranger, a song on the radio, or even a sudden sense of peace during chaos. I once heard God speak loudest while in a friends home about my oldest son, Steven, when all I could do was listen.
God loves to show up where we least expect Him. It’s not about where we are—it’s about whether we’re listening. He’s not confined to the sacred; He invades the ordinary. So be alert. That random encounter, that unexpected detour—it might just be God whispering your name.
Question of the Day:
When was the last time you heard God speak in an unexpected place?
Let’s Pray:
Lord, help us to hear You—even when You speak in places we don’t expect. Make our hearts sensitive to Your whisper, no matter where we are. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
