Today, we’re diving into a topic that has changed the course of history—what happens when God gives you a dream? We all have moments where we sense a divine nudge, but how do we respond? What if that dream disrupts everything we thought we knew?
Our springboard for today’s discussion is: Matthew 2:13—“Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, ‘Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.’”
Joseph didn’t hesitate. When God spoke through a dream, he moved—immediately. He didn’t wait for a second confirmation, debate the logistics, or question the timing. He understood that obedience to God’s voice was non-negotiable. This single act of trust saved the life of Jesus and fulfilled prophecy.
God still speaks through dreams today, but often, our response is hesitation. We analyze, we doubt, we wait for perfect conditions. But divine dreams demand action. When God reveals His will, it’s not for our curiosity—it’s for our calling.
So how do we respond to a God-given dream? First, seek confirmation in prayer and scripture. Joseph had a dream, but it aligned with God’s greater plan. Second, take steps of faith, even when the path is uncertain. Trust that if God called you to it, He will lead you through it. Finally, surrender your fears. Obedience isn’t always easy, but it always leads to God’s best.
Question of the Day: Have you ever had a dream you felt was from God? What did you do with it?
Let’s Pray: Lord, when You speak, help us to listen and act. Give us the courage to obey, even when it challenges our plans. Let our trust in You outweigh our fear of the unknown. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
