Welcome, Warriors, to The Power of God’s Whisper Podcast. Have you ever had a deep longing, an unshakable passion that seemed to pull you in a direction you never expected? Could it be that these desires are more than just personal dreams? What if God is speaking to you through them?
Our springboard for today’s discussion is: Proverbs 16:9 – "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps."
God’s voice is not always thunderous or wrapped in supernatural signs. Sometimes, He whispers through the desires He places in our hearts. But how do we know whether these desires are from Him or simply our own ambitions?
Desires that align with God’s will often persist, even in difficulty. They do not fade in the face of obstacles but deepen with time. Think about Moses—his desire to free his people began long before God spoke through the burning bush. Or Nehemiah, whose longing to rebuild Jerusalem was more than a personal dream—it was a divine calling.
However, not every desire is God-given. Selfish ambition is often restless, fueled by ego, and leads to discontentment. God-inspired desires, on the other hand, produce peace, even amid uncertainty. They lead us closer to Him, not away.
So how do we discern the difference? First, surrender your desires to God in prayer. Second, test them against His Word—would they glorify Him? Third, seek wise counsel from spiritually mature believers. Finally, step forward in faith and let God establish your steps.
Question of the Day: Is there a desire in your heart that might be God’s whisper leading you to something greater?
Let’s Pray: Lord, give us clarity to recognize Your voice in our longings. Align our desires with Your will so that our steps are firmly established in Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
