What's going on, everyone? This is Matthew Adams, and today we're going straight into the epicenter of our faith walk. We're navigating that sacred tension between the hidden and the revealed—the mystery and the mastery of hearing God's voice! Are y'all ready for this? Let's dive in!
Scripture:
"The LORD spoke to you from the heart of the fire. You heard the sound of his words but didn’t see his form; there was only a voice." DEUTERONOMY 4:12
Now, I need you to grasp this, because it's the landscape of your spiritual journey. The Israelites stood before a mountain on fire, surrounded by thunder and smoke. They heard God, but they couldn't see Him. And isn't that how it is for us? God is continually revealing Himself, but He's doing it in ways that invite us, not force us, to see Him. God is as present as the air we breathe, but the visibility? Well, that’s up to us.
Point 1: The Invitation of Invisibility
Yes, you heard me right. God doesn't just show up and say, "Here I am!" like we would in a game of hide-and-seek. No, God invites us to seek His voice in the shadows of our understanding. He doesn't just lay it all out because God is looking for seekers, not spectators. Are you just watching or are you truly seeking?
Point 2: The Power of Partial Revelation
God doesn't show His full hand, not because He's holding out on us, but because He knows what we can handle. He knows your frame; He knows you're dust. He's not going to overwhelm you; He's going to empower you. He'll show you enough to fuel your faith but leave enough mystery to keep you moving.
Point 3: Trust What You Don't See
We live in a "seeing is believing" culture, but God operates on a "believing is seeing" basis. You may not see His form, but can you trust His voice? Can you move in the direction of a sound when you don't see a sign? Because that's where miracles happen—in the gap between what you hear and what you see.
Conclusion:
Hearing God's voice isn't about deciphering every decibel of divinity. It's about being willing to step into the fog of faith, to move toward the sound when you can't see the source. It's about embracing the mystery while standing firm in the mastery of His word.
Call to Action:
Don't just stand there at the base of your mountain, awed by the fire and the thunder. Move! Take one step closer to the voice that's calling you. Open that Bible. Spend a few more minutes in prayer. Lean in and listen.
Prayer:
Lord, I may not see Your form, but I know Your voice. I accept the mystery and the mastery of Your revelation. Help me step into the unknown, trusting that You are leading me into the known. Amen.
