Hello everyone, welcome back to "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast". Today, we’re going to explore an intriguing part of the Bible, Revelation 2:17, where Jesus says, “I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it.” So, let's dive into this like we're on a grand treasure hunt.
Point 1: God as the Architect of Identity:
Our first point of consideration is about identity and God's unique role in shaping it. God relishes the opportunity to give His people new names; He did it for Abram, Sarai, Jacob, Simon, among others. What this teaches us is that our identity is not self-created or influenced by the world around us. Instead, it's lovingly crafted by God Himself.
Point 2: The Promise of a New Name:
Moving on to our second point, Jesus, in the book of Revelation, makes a beautiful promise to the overcomers: they'll receive new names in heaven. This name isn't just a combination of letters; it's a definition of who we are in Him, an affirmation of our unique identity in Christ. It's a name undeterred by our past, by what others think of us, or even by our perception of ourselves. It's a name rooted in Christ’s identity, mirroring our true purpose and essence.
Study Point 3: Embracing Your New Identity:
Lastly, and most importantly, it's crucial that we begin embracing this new identity that God bestows upon us. Maybe we've let others’ opinions, or our past experiences, dictate who we are. But remember, God calls you His child, He gives you His inheritance, He sees you whole in Christ, and crowns you with privileges as a priest and king. This identity isn’t something for the distant future; it’s your present reality, courtesy of His whispers.
Conclusion:
In Revelation 2:17, we encounter the beautiful promise of a new identity in Christ, an identity handcrafted by God Himself. Our true identity isn't defined by our past, our peers, or our self-perceptions, but by the voice of God.
Call to Action:
So here's your challenge for the week: start to see yourself as God sees you. Instead of focusing on your shortcomings, your past, or the labels that others have given you, focus on your God-given identity. Begin to believe in the name that He will engrave on your white stone. It's a name only you and God will understand, a name that reflects your truest self.
