Beloved Warriors…today, we gather to reflect on the power of God's Whisper, and how we can open our hearts and minds to truly listen to the words of our Savior, Jesus Christ. As we examine the scripture from Luke 9:35, we are reminded of the significance of Jesus as the chosen one, the voice of God in our lives, and the importance of embracing His teachings.
On that fateful day, Jesus led three of His disciples up to the mountaintop to pray. As Jesus prayed, His appearance was transformed, Moses and Elijah appeared, and a cloud descended upon them. It was at this moment that God spoke, singling out Jesus as the one we should listen to, as the shining representatives of the law and the prophets retreated. Jesus, the Son of God, stood alone.
In our world today, we are constantly bombarded with noise – distractions that keep us from truly hearing and understanding the voice of God. Yet, Jesus is the clearest, most direct voice of God we have been given. While the teachings of Moses and the prophets are indeed divine, they are not the final revelation. Jesus' words, on the other hand, are the foundation of the Kingdom. They offer us a complete expression of the divine will, spoken directly from the mouth of God incarnate.
When we are told to "listen" in Scripture, it is not simply a command to hear. Rather, it is a call to embrace, heed, and act upon the words of Jesus. Listening to Jesus means taking His message to heart, internalizing His teachings, and living our lives according to His example. As Christians, we must acknowledge that we often fall short of truly listening to Jesus' words. We may admire and honor His teachings, but we must also be zealous in following them.
As we strive to deepen our relationship with God, we must always be on the lookout for His voice in Jesus. When He instructs us to "love your neighbor as yourself," He truly means it. While God does not expect us to become legalistic Pharisees, He does expect us to embrace His heart as it is revealed in the words of Jesus. In every aspect of our lives, we must listen to Him.
So now, as we consider the powerful message of God's Whisper, let us ask ourselves these three questions:
How can we cultivate a deeper relationship with Jesus, in order to truly hear and understand His words?
In what ways can we apply Jesus' teachings to our daily lives, demonstrating our commitment to following His example?
How can we inspire others to embrace the teachings of Jesus, to help them find the peace and love that comes from truly listening to His words?
In conclusion, my brothers and sisters in Christ, let us be ever mindful of God's Whisper and the call to truly listen to Jesus. Let us open our hearts and minds to His teachings, embrace His divine wisdom and guidance, and strive to live our lives in accordance with His example.
Today, I encourage each one of you to take action. Dedicate time to prayer, reflection, and the study of Scripture. Engage in acts of service, demonstrating your love for your neighbors. By doing so, you not only honor the words of Jesus but also strengthen your connection to God's Whisper. Listen, embrace, and follow the teachings of Jesus – and let the transformative power of God's love guide you on your journey of faith. Amen.
