God’s voice is not always loud and thunderous. Sometimes, it’s a whisper. A whisper that we can only hear when we are quiet and attentive. But when we do hear it, it can change our lives and the lives of those around us.

In Acts 8, we see the power of God’s whisper in the life of Philip. The Holy Spirit spoke to him in a clear and specific way, guiding him to walk alongside a traveler and share the Good News of Jesus with him. And because Philip listened and obeyed, the Ethiopian traveler was saved and the Gospel was spread to a new part of the world.

So, what can we learn from this story? How can we hear God’s whisper and be obedient like Philip? Here are three follow-up questions to consider:

  1. Are we listening for God’s whisper?

In our fast-paced, noisy world, it can be difficult to hear God’s voice. We are bombarded with distractions and often prioritize our own agendas over listening for God’s guidance. But if we want to hear God’s whisper, we need to make time to be quiet and attentive. We need to be intentional about seeking God and listening for His voice.

  1. Are we willing to be obedient?

When we do hear God’s whisper, are we willing to obey? Philip could have easily ignored the Spirit’s prompt to walk alongside the traveler. He could have come up with excuses or rationalized his own plans. But he chose to be obedient, even when it was inconvenient or uncomfortable. We too must be willing to step out in faith and obedience when we hear God’s voice.

  1. Are we sharing the Good News?

Like Philip, we are called to share the Good News of Jesus with those around us. We may not have the opportunity to travel to far-off lands, but we can share the Gospel with our family, friends, and co-workers. We can be a light in our communities, showing the love of Christ through our words and actions. God’s whisper may be leading us to a specific person or situation where we can make a difference.

So, what is our call to action? It’s simple: listen for God’s whisper, be obedient, and share the Good News. It may not always be easy or comfortable, but we can trust that God’s whisper will lead us to where we need to go and empower us to do what we need to do.

In conclusion, God’s whisper is powerful. It can change lives, spread the Gospel, and impact the world. But we need to be attentive and obedient to hear it. So, let’s listen for God’s whisper and be willing to step out in faith and obedience, trusting that He will guide us and use us for His glory.

Let’s Pray….Holy Spirit, I want to hear You as clearly as Philip did. I want to be able to follow Your specific instructions. Give me the faith to do so and the ears to hear You. And speak powerfully through me as I respond to what You are speaking to me.
