Do you desire to hear God's voice? Are you seeking His guidance and direction for your life? The truth is, we all have moments when we need direction and guidance from God. But often, we approach Him as if He were a vending machine, expecting to get an answer and move on. We don't take the time to seek His heart and immerse ourselves in His nature. We don't realize that hearing God's voice is more than just getting information; it's about developing a relationship with Him.
In 1 Samuel 13:14, we read that David was a man after God's own heart. God sought out a man who shared His heart, not just His business. He was interested in a deep relationship with someone who desired to know Him intimately. This is the key to hearing God's voice: seeking His heart and immersing ourselves in His nature.
The first step to hearing God's voice is to desire to hear it. We must have a hunger and thirst for God's presence and His heart. We need to be willing to spend time in His presence, seeking His face, and not just His hand. We can't approach God as if He were a genie, waiting to grant our every wish. We must approach Him as a loving Father who desires to reveal Himself to us.
The second step is to listen for God's heartbeat. We need to tune our hearts to His frequency, so we can hear His voice clearly. This means we need to cultivate a spirit of stillness and quietness in our lives. In 1 Kings 19:12-13, Elijah heard God's voice in a gentle whisper. He had to be still and listen intently to hear God's voice. We too must learn to be still and listen for His voice in the midst of the noise and chaos of life.
The third step is to obey God's voice. When we hear God's voice, we must be willing to act on what He says. This requires faith and trust in God's wisdom and guidance. We must be willing to step out in faith and take risks, knowing that God is leading us. We must be willing to surrender our will to His and follow His leading, even when it doesn't make sense to us.
So, how can you practice stillness and hear God's voice? Here are three questions to ask yourself:
Am I seeking God's heart or just His hand?
Am I cultivating a spirit of stillness and quietness in my life?
Am I willing to obey God's voice, even when it doesn't make sense to me?
As you seek God's heart, cultivate a spirit of stillness, and obey His voice, you will begin to hear Him more clearly. You will develop a deeper relationship with Him and experience His guidance and direction in your life. Don't wait for a crisis to seek God's voice. Start today and experience the joy of hearing His heartbeat.
Let’s pray…Lord, I want to hear You well —on all things, even Your sorrows, and joys today. Impart Your thoughts to me. Let me feel Your heartbeat.
